Program Specialist - Disability Rights Bureau, State of Illinois - Office of the Attorney General

Michelle Harden works as a Program Specialist in the Disability Rights Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office. The Disability Rights Bureau enforces state and federal accessibility laws and standards to ensure that people with disabilities have access to the services offered by public accommodations and units of local and state government. Michelle conducts numerous trainings for those involved with the built environment including contractors, engineers, architects, plumbers, and code officials. Michelle’s responsibilities have also included serving on the 2018 Illinois Accessibility Code Revision Committee. Before coming to her present job, Michelle was a restaurant owner for several years. She utilizes this experience and her knowledge of accessibility laws and standards when working towards voluntary compliance.
